On June 23rd, we got back from camping at Rockport State Park in the Park City, Utah area. We got to rent some water trampolines to play with in Rockport Reservoir and we also got a Jet Ski (Awesome)! The water was cold, but it was pretty fun. There were about 50 gophers (technically "Uintah ground squirrels") there that were not at all afraid of humans. They were cute; until we got back. We had been camping with our neighbors, the Janises, and we were trying to catch gophers. We got some about 4 times, but they all ran away before we could show them to anybody. Well, it turns out that they won the gopher catching contest after all. They were unpacking when they saw a gopher staring at them from the trunk. If my mom had been there, she would have passed out. (She is deathly afraid of rodents.) So anyway, it ran into the vent system and got stuck in there. Finally it had a talking-to and escaped into a park. Let's be thankful there weren't two of them! This June our family enjoyed and AWESOME vacation to Disneyland to kick off our summer. We did and saw everything we could possibly do in the time we had. The kids started out the trip by running in the annual Captial Classic race that they run each year. Of course, Allie's broken leg kept her out of the race, but James, Cameron and Emily did a great run! We left from the race and headed to Daybreak to spend the evening with the Hill's there, enjoying lots of fun and a some music in the park. The next morning we moved on to Las Vegas and spent the night at my sister's house. Stephanie and her family then joined us the next day and we drove on to Anaheim and checked into the Marriot Suites and they were SWEET! We used it as our headquarters for fun. We spent two straight days hitting Disneyland pretty hard. We rode as many rides as we could, using Allie as our ticket through the long lines. We put her in a wheelchair but found that lots of people have the same idea! At one ride they told it would be faster to go through the regular line, but we looked at Allie with her broken leg and just shrugged our shoulders! We saw the fireworks and Fantasmic (which was Allie's favorite!) and we also saw the new World of Color which was really cool but maybe not worth the headache it took to see it. After this we took a break and headed to Elaine's and the beach. We had a GREAT lunch with Phil, Elaine and Christine. They were so sweet and fed our whole group then loaded us with beach accessories. The boys found some pretty fantastic shells! The last day, we went strong again in Disneyland until all of us were about ready to drop. We loaded up our tired but very happy kids and drove back to Vegas where the boys got to enjoy a few games of the European Soccer Championship together. I'll send along a picture of Justin, James, and my brother-in-law Tim all on the bed together watching soccer!!! (Guess they didn't think I'd have a camera!) We were so tired but we had so much fun. I have to admit it was the most fun for me because all the kids were so good and I didn't come away a crazy mama!!! -Stacey Perez
